In our household, we always have a healthy weekly shopping list, it’s a must, and again because it’s healthy it doesn’t need to be expensive at all. It just gives such a good feeling eating healthy and knowing you saved so much money instead of spending it on expensive lunches.

So let’s crack on, not too much chit chat and let me guide you through this simple healthy weekly shopping list ideas blog?

Where to start?

Back to the pen and paper or an online app to create a shopping list. Whatever you do always go to the shop prepared with a shopping list.

It saves you a lot of money and prevents you from buying things you don’t need at all.

Example of our personal household shopping list basics we always buy:

Vegetables:

Broccoli

Celery

Carrots

Tomatoes

Cucumber

Fruit:

Oranges

Apples

Bananas

Grapes

Protein:

Animal or non animal protein like:

Chicken

Fish

Canned chickpeas or kidney beans (water based)

Carbs like:

Brown rice or pasta

Whole wheat pita

Dark Ryvita crackers

Unsalted mix nuts

Water

Cheese

Honey

You can buy all of this for not that much money we spend like around £35/40 a week and that for 2 adults and a baby and I eat 4/5 times every single day

Cooking twice a week

A great tip: for Monday lunch we always have leftovers from the weekend and on Monday we cook for Tuesday and Wednesday. And Wednesday we cook for Thursday and Friday.

And then its weekend again and the cycle repeats?

Tip #1

If you’re on a really tight budget instead of animal protein which can be a lot more expensive I would suggest buying a things like a canned beans or kidney beans so you still get a lot of protein in.

Where you would buy meat for £3 or more you can buy canned beans, chickpeas for just a couple of cents.

Tip #2

If you know you’re a sweet tooth, instead of buying  a 4 pack snickers just buy 1 and try to eat it once a week, that’s it. Or if you are really struggling with it, don’t buy any sweets at all in your house.

Did you know that?

To stay healthy and fit exercise only contributes 20% and healthy food 80% didn’t knew that huh, now you know?

A simple tuna pasta recipe

Besides world peace etc. what we also need is a simple tuna pasta recipe just to make life easier right?

Learned about this pasta when I came to the UK in 2010 from a roommate then. It’s such a simple and quite cheap pasta but it’s really good, so I had to write this simple tuna pasta recipe blog for Y’all?

The only thing that was missing in this simple tuna pasta recipe was vegetables but this is solved now as I came up with a great vegetable which suites this pasta beautifully.

So like you know me not to much chit chat without an example so let’s crack on and let me show you a simple tuna pasta recipe, enjoy?

So, what do you need?

1 pack of whole wheat pasta

1 pack of kale

2 0r 3 cans of tuna

Philadelphia cheese

Half of an onion

1 garlic

Olive oil

Salt and pepper

First step Prep time

Mince the onion and garlic

Next step

Remove the stems of the kale and cut the leaves it in even size chunks

Wash the leaves and let it dry

You can the cook the kale but what I Personally prefer is to steam the kale for just a couple of minutes to keep all the good stuff in the kale. Whatever you do don’t do it too long otherwise you lose all the good vitamins, minerals etc.

Once its ready cool it off with cold water or if you have cooked it, get it out if the pan and put it another bowl so it doesn’t cook further leaving you with alone with a vegetable with not all the good stuff still in it.

Next step

Fill up a pan with cold water and boil it up

Add the same time boil up another pan if you go to steam your kale

Once it reaches its boiling point ad generously some salt to it and what I love to do is to add a little bit of olive oil to the water

Let it cook 8-10 min- and what I always say taste your food when preparing so go ahead and taste once a while if the pasta is good yes or no

Once its ready cool it off with cold water and put the pasta away

Next step

In the meanwhile, depending on how fast you are otherwise you can also do this before you boil up the water, mince the onion and the garlic

Next step

Cook the onions and garlic until they get a light brown color

Add the pasta to it and stir everything around

Then add some scoops of Philadelphia cheese to it

Add some salt and pepper to it and then stir everything around for just a couple of minutes because you don’t want to get all the good stuff out of kale.

Finish

And that’s it! And if you made the whole pack of pasta just put the rest in containers and enjoy it another day which saves you again on a lot of time and money.

So there you have it, a simple tuna pasta recipe quick and simple ?

If you have any questions please don’t hesitate to contact me, I’m here to help you. if you have any feedback please let me know so I can improve myself helping you achieving and enjoying your goals.

– Toast or heat the pita light brown
– Once the pitas are ready to spread some butter or margarine with modest, please?
– After this add 2 to 3 slices mozzarella on the toast
– After this add the tomatoes on top of the mozzarella
– After this sprinkle some green onions on the tomatoes
– And after this sprinkle some salt and pepper on top of it

And there you have it:

A cheaper healthier meal and if you buy 1 more pack of pita of 0, 50 you can enjoy this healthier meal more days then just 1 junk food meal

Example 2

I am not going to call out names, the only thing that I will say is: I’m loving it?

OK let’s go for the good old large big mac meal in the UK you will pay for a large meal £ 5, 09

So let me show you what you can buy with the £5, 09 or whichever currency you are using:

– Whole wheat Fusilli pasta pasta (500 gram)- £0,56
– Cherry tomatoes- £1

  • You can top it of with some fresh basil if you like:)

And there you have it,with all these ingredients you can eat way more, healthier  for that hard earned money, what more do you want?

Cheap , Healthy, Easy dinner ideas volume 1

Hi everyone,

In today’s blog, I will start with cheap healthy easy dinner ideas.

We might think that healthy food is always very expensive but that’s not always true. So, I’m happy to show you this cheap healthy easy dinner ideas blog, so you can see for yourself that’s it not so hard.

And again, it’s all about planning/preparation? so you can have a healthy meal every single day.

So like you know me not to much chit chat without any example so let’s crack on and let me show you a cheap, healthy, easy dinner ideas, enjoy?

P.S I’m not vegan but I don’t  necessarily need animal protein every day. So no worries my meat lovers?

When to prep?

I would say weekends or Wednesdays (see my Cheap weekly meal plan ideas! Blog why)

What do you need? And roughly cost?

Roughly £7,63

-Which will last you a whole week? Put in a fridge for 2 days and pop the rest into the freezer.

The only thing I suggest is to get vegetables every 2 days so you mix it up.

Brown rice

#Tip- Find out on the internet where you can buy this the cheapest. For example, I found out one on the ASDA website for just £1,49 for 1 kilo

Broccoli ( 2 good size of broccoli’s should be enough for 2 or more people)

#Tip- You can find this very cheap in your local grocery stores. I have found for example one on the Tesco website. Frozen green peas for just £0,90 for 900 gr

Kidney beans (3 cans for 2 people should be enough)

–    If you can’t find it you can use black beans, chickpeas, brown beans as well no problem

#Tip- You can find this very cheap in your local grocery stores. I have found for example one on the Tesco website for just £0,30 for 1 can of 400 gr

Curry sauce

#Tip- Also this you can find very cheap in your local grocery stores. I have found for example one on the Sainsbury’s website for just £0,55 for 900 gr

Salt

Black pepper

1 Onion

1 Garlic

2 Tomatoes

–    You can get all these ingredients very cheap

Instructions

1st step

Everyone makes rice in different ways but I prefer this way.

  • Wash the rice and let it dry
  • Heat a pan with olive oil and start baking the rice until it gets a darker color
  • Once darker ad water to it, my mum taught me that if you put your finger in the water and your finger touches the rice the water should not be higher than the first line on your finger
  • Lower down the fire and let it cook
  • Once the water disappears check how soft the rice is.If it’s still too hard ad some more water and let it cook longer until its right

2nd step

  • First, cut the garlic and onions in little chunks and put them together
  • Cut the tomatoes in small chunks
  • Heat up a pan with olive oil
  • Once hot add the garlic and onion to it and stir it until its get a little bit brown
  • Add the tomatoes to it and stir it short
  • After this, all add the kidney beans to it and stir it short browner
  • After this add the curry sauce to it
  • After this add some salt and pepper how you prefer
  • Let it slowly cook for around 20 min

3rd step

  • Add some olive oil to a pan and heat it up slow
  • Add the green beans to it, stir it short and add some salt and pepper to it and cook it very short so you keep all the good stuff in it, like vitamins, minerals etc.

And there you have it, a delicious, cheap, healthy meal for around £7,63

quick and simple. Healthy food doesn’t have to be expensive?

My favorite fruits available in summer time!
